How Does Trustap Checkout Work? A Look at the Full Customer Journey

"What does my customer actually see?" is one of the first questions merchants ask before switching their card payment option to Trustap. Fair question. So instead of describing it, here's the full journey, screen by screen, from adding a product to cart through to the order confirmation.

Step 1: Shopping Continues As Normal

Nothing changes upstream of checkout. Customers browse and add products to their basket exactly as they always have.

Step 2: Reviewing the Cart

The cart drawer, subtotal, and "Check out" button all look and behave the same as before Trustap was ever in the picture.

Step 3: A Familiar Checkout, With One New Choice

This is your standard Shopify checkout: contact details, delivery address, shipping method. Nothing about this layout changes.

The only difference sits in the Payment section. Alongside (or instead of) the default "Credit card" option, customers now see "Pay by Card," with the same familiar Visa, Mastercard, and Amex logos. A short note lets them know they'll be taken to a secure page to finish paying.

A quick note for context: if a customer pays with Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Klarna instead, none of this applies. Trustap only ever appears as an option for standard card payments, everything else in checkout runs exactly as it did before.

Step 4: A Secure, Prepopulated Payment Page

Choosing "Pay by Card" takes the customer to Trustap's own secure payment page. Their name, address, and order details populate  automatically, so there's nothing to re-type. They simply add their card number and confirm.

The order summary here is fully itemised: the order total, and the final amount due, all shown before the customer clicks "Pay now."

Step 5: Instant Confirmation

Payment is confirmed immediately, with a clear success message and the amount charged. The customer is then automatically redirected back to your store.

Step 6: Back on Your Store, Order Confirmed

The redirect lands the customer straight back on your site's own order confirmation page, the one they'd see with any payment method. From here, it's business as usual: confirmation emails, order tracking, everything native to your store.

The Whole Thing, In Short

  1. Customer shops and checks out as usual
  2. At payment, they choose "Pay by Card"
  3. They're taken to a secure, prepopulated Trustap payment page
  4. Payment confirms instantly
  5. They land back on your store's own confirmation page

One extra screen, a few seconds, details already filled in. Everything else, express wallets, your checkout design, your confirmation page, stays exactly as your customers already know it.
